Ode to Teddy Bear

I stopped in my tracks to see much loved and well-worn Teddy Bear, side-kick to small boy, face down on the floor of our living room. For two nights in a row now, right next to a folded up Christmas stocking and crumpled blanket lies the bedtime buddy of my only boy. Ode to Teddy Bear...could you be nearing the end of your high profile status? You, the bear who has propelled us into dark rainy yards in the midnight hour? You, so beloved, as to not even be allowed to accompany the boy, sis, and their Mom on outings for fear you'd be dropped and left behind? What? Light saber, you say??? Irreplaceable and indispensable, you small brown Teddy Bear!! Shudder the thought you would accompany him anywhere at age 18, but now? This soon?? May it never be...and to ensure my wishes I now shuttle you pillowside to the Evening Blue bedroom and your greatest admirer, a loved child of mine.

Teddy Bear is right up there with Aflack! Also reminds me of BG's post "The Last Time". Kinda makes me teary eyed....no wait...its just my hair dripping from my shower...whew!

Just might have to glue that thing to his sheets, precious little bear that he is. Sniff.

I wrote an ode to MA's Ratty Blue Elephant with the pocket on it's tummy...some times they just threaten to grow up waaaaay too soon.

I think I'm going to try to post a picture of said bear, and everything will make sense.: ) His eyes are scratched, he basically has no neck now, whatsoever, plus a variety of holes here and there. What a loved sight he is. Nancy, do you have a pic of the elephant? Brenda, my daughter is almost 9 and I totally hear what you're saying about your 7 year old.

They just grow up soooo fast. I'm with you, I think you should glue Teddy Bear to his sheets. He'll always be your baby:)

Some time ago, The Bumbling Genius posted a picture of small boy as a "young curmudgeon". Hop on over and see if you can find him.

The littlest curmudgeon is just the curmudgiest, curmudgeon of his age group!

You win the "seek and find" prize, Nancy! : ) Well done. BG has to show me how to put in a link to his blog....someday. :)

I was surprised (and somewhat pleased) when my ten-year-old son asked for a teddy bear for Christmas last year. For a moment I worried; wasn't ten a little old for such a request? I mean a trip for basketball shoes for the team and a teddy bear for nighty-night time was a little strange, lol. But he's still sleeping with it a year later. I suppose it won't hang around for long, but I'll enjoy it while I can:)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

To "My Kid's Mom" I'm hoping that my son will hold tight to the little brown fella just a bit longer myself. (10 would be fine with me too). Kinda had me rethinking the light saber purchase decision for a while there! Stay in touch!
