The Ending Of This Day

Tonight, I tucked the children into bed, ours! Danny is out of town, and that provides us with an opportunity to settle in knowing the night ahead may be fraught with knees in the side, or an unannounced elbow here and there. Nevertheless, it mostly provided us with our usual night time singing and scripture and prayer. A favorite of my son's is when I sing from my heart to the Lord, or perhaps it's Him whispering a new song to me: a song of praise about what He's made, how He loves us, and the words simply and spontaneously go on and on. Tonight, to this very thing, both children fell fast asleep (I'm smiling as I remember!) As I close out the day I chose this hymn as my own quiet praise to the Lord.

Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly minded,
For with blessing in His hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
Our full homage to demand.

King of kings, yet born of Mary,
As of old on earth He stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture,
In the body and the blood;
He will give to all the faithful
His own self for heavenly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven
Spreads its vanguard on the way,
As the Light of light descendeth
From the realms of endless day,
That the powers of hell may vanish
As the darkness clears away.

At His feet the six wingèd seraph,
Cherubim with sleepless eye,
Veil their faces to the presence,
As with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia
Alleluia, Lord Most High!

How fun to have that snuggle time with them and have them drifting off thinking about the Lord.

Beautiful song, and what a great way for the kiddos to drift off to sleep. It's fun when they are little like that, and they still like to snuggle with you. It's a very special time.
Have a great week.

Hi Kathy,
That was so incredibly beautiful! What a wonderful gift you are giving your children. A gift that they will hold dear in their memories. Precious time spent with their mother and time spent teaching them how to fall in love of their Heavenly Father as you have.
Oh how I miss those snuggle days with my kids!
Blessings on your day today,
Kymber

Blessings on your day as well Kymber. I am so very very grateful for the days and years I've been given thus far. I love to hold out the treasure of the Lord before the children so we can love and admire Him together. Fortunately, that doesn't have to end once they leave home! : )
