Daddy Reads A Memory

He thinks he's reading the classic children's novel, Robinson Crusoe. I like to think he's reading A Memory, the book he writes as he reads. She'll remember this. She'll remember his devotion to her, to us. She'll remember countless hours he has spent reading more than a handful of novels that have become the springboard to hours of child's play: Narnia in the backyard, treasure hunts spawned by Treasure Island. The sound of tonight's story, its words to his voice are the map to tomorrow's fun, I just know it! Oh, adventure. Oh, joy and memory. Oh, a devoted father. Invisible ink is writing a beautiful story.

It's wonderful the food for our little ones' imaginations. We're currently reading Anne of Green Gables and it's so fun watching Grace act it out in her own time!

There is some awesome children's literature out there. I feel like we don't have enough time to read it all! But we're having fun trying, and I'm glad you all are too. Blessings!

What a lovely, lovely way to put it. Danny has such a wonderful reading voice to boot. Think he'd come over and read US stories? ;)

Loved this post!!! and the pictures. My adult children thank me for instilling in them a love of reading. I'm so thankful it was instailled in me. Another one of the generational gifts.

Susan,
The love of reading is a wonderful generational gift. As I thought about your comment I realized that passing the baton, passing on a Godly heritage that leads our children to the Lord is our chief and primary goal. And amazingly, even reading stories for hours upon end is part of that. Blessings.

A story in the heart is always the best one! It plays back on an unbreakable disc...reaching to forever!

You're right Nancy. I thought about the phrase, "the tablet of human hearts" referred to in the Bible. We're always writing a story on the heart of our children....the question is the content.

You are right - he is writing a memory! One of the greatest memories I have is of my father reading to me when I was young.

He used to read the "Laura Ingalls Wilder" books. I then in turn read them all to my children when I became a mother and thus a family tradition was born!

It was such a time of bonding between my father and me. One that I cherish today when he is so far from me.

Tell your hubby good job! Your children will always remember that simple act as being the happiest time of their young lives!
Blessings,
Kymber
