I have a longing to read through the Bible this year, and I finally found a plan I really like. Here it is! I am printing out a copy to keep in my Bible. I love that I can read "row by row," or column by column. Here's how it's set up:

Sunday-----Epistles
Monday-----The Law
Tuesday----History
Wednesday--Psalms
Thursday---Poetry
Friday-----Prophecy
Saturday---Gospels

I can either read through all the Epistles at one time, for example, or I can take a sampling of the 7 categories throughout the week....or even more, skip around. My friend Keelie at Red Writing is also reading through the Bible, and you might enjoy visiting her blog to read more on what she is doing this year. Blessings, and Happy New Year, Everyone!

That's neat, Kathy. I know so many times I've said "I'm gonna do it" and then don't quite get thru the year. One of my 'problems' if you will, is getting stuck in one book and reading it over and over. I guess it's not really a problem as I figure the Lord has me reading there for a reason, right?!

I decided to not even get stressed not starting on the 1st. I found one plan that allows you to read a chapter a day, and complete the Bible in 3 years. So many good options out there.

I like that plan. I've tried plans before, but I tend to get stuck in areas like Leviticus. I like that this one has you moving around.

Our latest Bible to read through is the Chronological Bible. We are LOVING it. Currently in the era of the Judges.

I'm glad you've decided to do this! I have never had the "urge" to read through the whole Bible in one year. Just as long as I can sit down every day and read a portion, I'm good. Hope you're feeling better!

I look forward to reading what God is showing you this next year. I have the same desire to read through the Bible. I am going with the three year plan. One chapter a day.

Tricia, the 3 year plan sounds doable. I'm looking forward to our new year together! : )

I too found one on Bible Gateway.com that is a chronological plan. I'm thinking it's probably going to be more than a 1 year plan for me, but after the 1st part of Genesis I'm now in Job. I think it's going to help me get a "Big Picture" view of how everything fits together. Happy Reading!

Our church used to encourage everyone to read through the bible in a year and at the end of the year, everyone that did got a pin during one of the services. We had one lady that read through twice in a year. Wow

Many years ago, I was in a service where a woman was taliking about reading her bible through every year. She was in her seventies and I forget how many times she went through it, but she was the one that encouraged me to do it also. I have a pin stuck to my bible for every year that I read through. Now I have commentary that I read also so it takes longer to read and I haven't gotten through it for a few years now.

I agree with TraciG that it does help you get the "Big Picture" in many areas of topics.
